I’m glad to see that you’ve made it through yesterday, officially the most depressing day of the year. Marvelous. Well done. It all gets better from now on. A brilliant time for a life coaching exercise of the future wishes variety.

Imagine a date in six months time. Everything you want to have happened has happened. Things have turned out just as you hoped. It is a Wednesday and you’re waking up in the morning – what is the first thing you notice that tells you that things have changed? Go through the morning routine noticing all the details that send you a signal of delight.

It is now 11am on that same day – what are you doing, where are you, who else is there? It is the evening of that same day – what happened today that gave you a sense of value and purpose? What brought the most happiness? Now it is Saturday of the same week – where are you, what are you wearing, what are you doing now? What are you using the day to do? Think about the ideal morning, afternoon and evening.

What was the most compelling idea that you came up with? Was it to do with work, or relationships or even a change to the environment that you are in. Can you find the real wish without editing it by getting prematurely concerned with how you’re going to get there? Why not work out what the very first step would be – that you could begin today – which would help you get to where you want to in 6 months time?
