Seven Sayings in Finnish

A few years ago I created the seven sayings animations on rejesus.co.uk These are meditations and animations inspired from the seven last things Jesus said from the cross. Not only is it popular in the English speaking world – I've just finished the Finnish version.

Looking back on these animations, which embody created four or five years ago, I still think they’re simple and powerful. Classic online spirituality. My favourite bit is the whale’s tail and the eyes. Still not sure how this Mexican styling came to fit this particular saying so well but the final moment, when it is you that is being stared at is quite powerful.

Working on the Finnish translation was mesmerising. It involved listening to the same portions of dialogue time and time again to synchronise the action to the words so I began to hear familiar phrases in a new language which brought in a new meaning somehow. So thanks to Marika Villikka from the Finnish Bible Society for making the approach.
