Some 18 months ago I re-launched embody as a wordpress blog using an adapted wordpress template. All was well and good until I added google analytics to the site – which showed that very few visitors were journeying much into the content. The problem with the blog structure is that the visitor is looking at just the top of a very tall, linear pile. One thing on top of the next.
My intention with the site and the contents is to provide some well developed and considered material of a higher value in development terms than a daily or once a week blog post. So I needed a new system and expressionengine came to the rescue. More on that another time.
The site you are looking at is my own content management architecture, template and design. Not perfect hence embody 3.0.0. I am learning how expressionengien works and working out all the challenges of CSS expesially on I.E for the PC. So you would be doing me a huge favour if you spot any glitches to leave a comment below. Links not working, obvious layout problems or anything that doesn’t seem to be working right (links from the left navigation not included, they are place holders for now.)
Hi Bruce,
I just found your site through http://www.rejesus.co.uk which uses some of your Sacred Space material… I like your new site - it looks fab, very stylish, and nicely designed. Have come across some other really nice looking ‘wordpresses’ and I’m thinking maybe it’s time to re-invent… I really like how you’ve categorised things - ie. the positive and affirmative labels you’re using (soul gym, wishing, embody, create, coach, venture, resourc etc.). Haven’t got time to look at all of it right now, but will come back later. Kudos to you ... and thanks for the Sacred Space material. It’s so nice to see positive and affirmative things happening online.
cheers,
Todd (Spirited Earthling)
Thanks Todd.
I’ve become a real fan of ExpressionEngine which allows a lot more flexibility in design and information structure. I was considering joomla and other free CMS’s but when you look through the example sites showcased on joomla v’s those at EE there is no comparison really.
I do think wordpress has a lot going for it if what you want is a blog with some extra pages.
Bruce,
Like the site. The mix of graphical and text seems to work well. On the ‘Venture’ page, the two ‘happiness’ trailers are missing the bottom section of the items.
Blessings,
Niall
